In Qur’an We Trust

quranmonumentuaeclose.jpgAssalaamu-Alaykum (Peace be Upon you)

Every religion has their holy text. Judaism has the Torah, Christianity has the Bible and alhumdulillah (all Praise belongs to Allah), Islam is blessed with the beauty of the Qur’an.

So what is the beauty of the Qur’an?

Is it the way any Muslim can just pick it up and read it and feel their heart fill up with its Noor (Radiance)? Is it the fact that even if you do not understand Arabic, just by reading, you experience the inner bliss?

For some, and indeed, as it should be for everybody, its about praying and understanding – understanding what Allah is saying to you, understanding about the history of the nations that preceded us, understanding the miracles of Allah’s creation and understanding about the Akhirah (Hereafter) and Jannah and Jahannam (Heaven and Hell).

Because the Qur’an is the user guide for a human being. If one looks within it one will find not just a holy scripture, but one will find a history book, a science book, a book on social dealings and conduct, and indeed one will find it the most comprehensive piece of legislation ever. This is because, as Muslims we believe that the Qur’an was not written by any mortal, but that it was revealed to the great Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from Allah Himself and is therefore Allah’s Word. And who knows His Creation better than Allah?

Indeed, one of the many ways in which the Qur’an is superior to all other holy texts is its undoubted authenticity. Whilst the other texts were being chopped and changed at will by clergymen with their own evil ends, not a single letter of the Qur’an has been edited, nor will it be until the end of time. This is because of Allah’s Promise in the Qur’an and also due to the miraculous method of transmission of the Qur’an.

Since the time of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and still going strong, the Qur’an is being memorised word to word, letter to letter, by young and old and by both Arabic speaking and non-Arabic speaking people all over the world.

Two years ago, two of my cousins at the age of 11 memorised the Qur’an, and this is not something rare, alhumdulillah (all Praises belong to Allah), this sort of thing happens everyday across the globe – irrefutable proof that the Qur’an at the time of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the same one we have today and that it is the same one being recited all over the world.

Finally, for the humble author, the genius of the Qur’an lies in its recitation. The way that you can adorn the Qur’an with a sweet voice and tone lies at the heart of its beauty. The way in which the same page can be prayed over and over again without the thought of boredom ever entering the mind, is the true indicator that this word is truly Allah’s Word.

With this in mind, respected readers are invited to attend Masjid-Al-Hidaya on Tuesday 3rd July 2007, where after Asr Prayers, we will insha-Allah (with the Will of Allah) be blessed with experiencing the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by none other than Shaikh Ramadhan-Al-Hajjaj-Al-Hindawi hailing all the way from Egypt.

May Allah give us all the love, attachment and correct understanding of His Book. Ameen.

And Allah knows best.
